Emergency Power Generators

Post by Texas Patriot on Sun May 17, 2015 1:23 pm

We have been looking at backup power generators. 20-22Kw.
I like the idea of having the emergency power back up but do not like the initial price of purchasing and getting it set up. (propane tank and connection and fill)
My solution is to use the two existing portable generators that I have. I purchased 2 transfer switch kits and will install them through the exterior wall outside the service entrance. I ordered two kits at $468. This will allow me to keep the basics running for a while.

Basics? What basics need 20-22kW? I use a 2kW generator for basics, and what you have is 10x that.

My current two 4000w genies will handle the basics.
The 20-22kw would be to run the whole house, including A/C.
